and then I came back in to each square and did a series of four circles, each 1" larger than the previous.
My question is this: What should I do in the borders? I'm thinking of doing a fan or maybe some feathers. But I'm just not sure. I'm totally open to suggestions. This border is four inches wide and I had cut the strips too short and had to come up with that funny little wedge in the corner since I didn't have enough of the blue fabric to cut new borders. It doesn't show up too much in this picture.
So, what would you guys do?
Could you do more circles? Or loopy circles, something to tie into the circles you've already quilted? I LOVE the quilted circles in the square above.

Loopy? Like a series of cursive lowercase L's? Your hand quilting is amazing, by the way!
ReplyDeleteLovely quilting. It does need to relate so how about a line with circles attached instead of leaves or flower buds.
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest leaves, because when I look at the top picture there are so many florals involved that leaves might relate. Who knows! I'm sure whatever you decide, Michelle, it will be beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI know this sounds simple but how about straight line outlines in the border?
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful and I love that you are hand quilting it.
What about a Baptist (or Bishop's) Fan?
ReplyDeleteSince I'm only a vicarious quilter, I don't feel qualified to make any suggestions but wanted to drop in to say your hand quilting is AMAZING! I love the circles and the quilt itself is beautiful. What are your plans for it when it's finished?
ReplyDeleteHope your quilter's injury is healing nicely.
You could echo one of the motifs from the fabric itself. Maybe those plus sign type things? Or the leaves?
